The great thing about Yelp is that the public can not only give reviews about a business, but the business can give the public a reward in return. The Yelp home screen has “Deals” which finds local businesses offering some type of offer. And, nobody knows about the offer except for the millions of smartphone users who have the Yelp app installed. If a person goes on a business trip, for example, he or she can easily find a restaurant and read reviews. In a big city there may be many great options, so the “Deals” section may help a person select one restaurant over dozens of other, equally-tempting options. Many of the reviews tend to be about restaurants and bars, but there are plenty of other businesses on Yelp. Yelp is a location-based social site in which people can add others as friends so they can more easily track each other’s reviews.
